By creating the illusion of space, you have tackled your bathrooms limited dimensions. Aim to the color of the walls, paint it with lighter shades creams and pastels, thereby avoiding the darker colors that dramatically reduce the sense of space inside a small room.

Good lighting is also a vital tool in expanding the look of your bathroom. By illuminating areas that are prone to shadows with strong directional lights you’ll find that the room opens up even further.

Finally, attempt to generate a feeling of space through the clever use of mirrors, which positioned correctly can literally make a room appear to double in size. For maximum effect, adorn the back wall of the room with one or more large mirrors, or a number of smaller mirror-type tiles.

Bathrooms are one of the most important rooms in a house. With wide variety of materials involved, bathrooms are also one of the most expensive to design – it takes skills and professional laborers to make it look like a museum in an infinite details.

Though bathroom parts are replaceable such as sinks, toilets, tubs, and even the cabinet mirror, so it is a good idea to cater most of our time on these components. They feel like a new home construction due to its excellent shape (small but clean).

In homes with only one bathroom, it is vital to also consider installing another ½ or a full bath by borrowing space from adjacent rooms. This is especially true for any homes with 3 or more bathrooms as your prospective buyer will most likely be a family with children. Having an extra ½ or better yet a full bath is an expected convenience from today’s buyers.

How do you plan out in designing your bathrooms?

The first thing you need to tackle is the layout of the bathroom. There is more opportunity to change the layout when making more space or improving its functionality in designing the bathroom. Fixtures and hardware’s can be replaced when outdated. Even floor tiles if some are cracked or missing.

Here’s the general rule when lay outing your bathroom,

  • The bathroom entrance door should not interfere with people in front of fixtures.
  • Fixtures situated so two people can use the space comfortably.
  • Toilet in separate section or when possible shielded from entrance view.

Bath/Shower Tubs
  • A minimum shower size of 34″ x 34″.
  • A minimum 60″ x 30″ of open floor space in front of shower/tub.

  • Sinks
  • A minimum 15″ of clearance space from the centerline of a sink bowl to a wall.
  • A minimum 30″ of clearance space between the centerlines of double-bowl sinks.
  • A minimum 30″ x 48″ of open floor space in front of the sink.

Toilets
  • A minimum 16″ from the centerline of a toilet to a wall, or adjacent fixture.
  • A minimum 48″ x 48″ of open floor space in front of the toilet.

If you think its time to redesign or sell your house, a well thought out design as well as adding enough features will make your bathroom the best room in the house.

It could save you more money if you got the motivation and some basic knowledge about paints. If you think painting the exterior of your house is for professionals alone – think again.

Below are tips on selecting exterior paint and how to do the painting the professional way.

There two basic types of exterior paint to choose from, one is the Oil-based paints are very durable and water-resistant. They result in hard finish and are often used by professional painters. Use an oil-based if the surface you are painting has already been painted with oil-based paint.

And the other oil is the Stir oil-based paint which is frequently the type of paint that tend to separate quickly.

If using oil-based paint, be sure to use a brush or roller specifically designed for use with oil-based paint.

Latex exterior paints have undergone many improvements, and some can be as durable as oil-based. They are also considerably easier to work with. Be sure, however, that you select an exterior latex for use on the outside of your home, not the same latex used on interior walls.

To determine whether you have acrylic or oil-based paint on your homes, first, peel off a large paint-chip. If the chip bends slightly before cracking, it's probably latex. Oil-paint chips tend to snap easily. If this test doesn't work for you, take a paint-chip sample to your local paint store or home center and have them test it.

Latex is easy to apply, dries quickly, is durable and is resistant to the effects of direct sunlight. Clean-up is easy, and just requires water.

Acrylic latex is the highest-quality latex paint. It will cover just about any building material including masonry and properly primed metal.

There you have it! Painting your home exterior won’t be this hard once you get the basic about how to paint.
